Odyssey of the Mind Competition Photos

We are very proud to announce the Oak Hill Odyssey of the Mind team A, "Cougars" won the Virginia State Competition in April and now move on to the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals, May 23-26, in Michigan. Here are some photos from the state competition:

Saturday, March 3 was a great day for the Oak Hill Dragons (Balsa team A). The hard work of the Oak Hill team paid off. They won first place in the Regional Odyssey of the Mind Competition for the "Out of the Box Balsa Problem". The team's problem was to design, build, and test a structure made of balsa wood that could balance and support weights. The structure was designed to fit completely inside a box that was smaller than the assembled structure and could not weigh more than 18 grams.
The team had to creatively assemble the structure and test it with weights. The structure made by the Oak Hill Dragons held a whopping 277 pounds! The team was interviewed by the judges about their structure design, teamwork and costumes. They were also tested for spontaneous creativity by another team of judges and scored an overall 347 points out of 350, surpassing the 195 points win by the 2nd runner up.
The Oak Hill Dragons will be going to the State level competion April 21 in Newport News, Virginia.
Congratulations to the Oak Hill Dragons: Jonathan Lin, Katherine Qian, Kirit Nakka, Nithin Bala, Patrick Wang, Richard Wang. Good luck at the state competition! Thanks to all the coaches and parents involved!
